April 2010

The biggest, most exciting thing for Hannah in April was that she learned to use the potty!! I am not one of those over-achiever mothers that have to have their children potty trained by 18 months or even 2 years old. Hannah showed no interest, therefore I had no interest. But the second she did show interest, I tried to be all over it, and did it all completely wrong. I get frustrated really easily, and poor Hannah is such a people pleaser...let's just say that I completely gave up my spot for mother of the year. And then a friend posted on her facebook about the book 3 Day Potty Training. For me, for Hannah, it was magic. It made sense to me, I stayed calm, she screamed, I still stayed calm, she screamed some more (there was a lot of reluctance to let the pee freely flow) and there was lots of hugging while on the toilet. It took about 3 1/2 days for us, but she got it and I am so proud of her.
She always has the most amazing bed head.
In her new big girl panties!
We spent the whole day together, attached at the hip. A friend took Bryn for the day and the Keith was home the next two days to allow all my focus to be on Hannah.

We had a nest in our swingset that had three little eggs in it. We loved those little eggs.
The big girl.
She is seriously the best girl ever.
And Brynlee...
She is also the best.
She's becoming a pro at walking and has the greatest sense of humor.

I can finally put her hair in pigtails.

As long as she's eating, she's happy. I love that messy face!!

And Keith...Poor Keith. He developed a hernia in his stomach from his previous surgery and so he had to have another surgery to fix it. We were able to stay in Evansville for it instead of going to Indianapolis. The poor guy can't catch a break!

ALSO...
Ryan and Kylee got married!!
We love Kylee and are so happy that she is in our family.

Since Keith was about 3 weeks post-op and couldn't lift anything, we took along one of the young women from our ward, Jordan, to help me with the girls. We got a lot of looks, most of them disgusted looks, from people as we would pass them in the airport. Jordan and I are packed to max with bags and kids and Keith has his very small carry-on. Then as we got our rental car, Keith stood there directing me on how to pack the bags/stroller/carseats into the SUV. (Even though I am totally anti minivan, and yes I own one, they have so much more space then that blasted SUV) Men everyone were wondering how he got in on such a good gig. Women everywhere were shaking their heads in disgust. I kept calling him a dead beat husband. For some reason he didn't find that very funny. Hmm, go figure!

Hannah's musical debut

Can't leave out this beauty. Hannah at 2 1/2 years old. She is ALWAYS singing.

March 2010

I am determined to get caught up on my blog for 2010 before I can start 2011 in 2012.
Hannah got her first haircut ever from Aunt Julie while we were visiting. That's right...I let my child sport the serious mullet. I didn't realize it was so bad until I looked back at pictures. Now it just makes for some great comical entertainment. However, the mullet has grown out and she got a little trim.
Too cute.

The bad thing about trying to post about two years ago is that I don't remember what anything was for. So here, we went out to dinner for something. Yeah, that's about it.
I love my family.

Brynlee got to go out on the boat for the first time.

We soaked up as much AZ sun as we could. Hannah could have pulled Bryn around all day long!
We went to the zoo...
...she wants to walk so badly.
My favorite picture
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS.

Brynlee finally took her first steps all be herself on March 18th.

And we celebrated Easter. A little blurry, but still so adorable.
We loved our extended stay in Arizona, but it was time to head back home to Indiana.

Giggley Brynlee

I can't get enough of her giggles!!!

February 2010

Nat and Tatem stayed for a good portion of February. Whenever they come, it's almost a must that they stay for a while to get in some good playing time.
I tried very unsuccessfully to potty train Hannah. This may have been her only success.

Keith's team, the COLTS, made it to the Super Bowl. This may have been the one and only time that the jersey he got me for Christmas came in handy!
Of course, Nat and Tatem had to cheer for the opposing team.
Whatever...

Valentine's Day isn't Valentine's Day without chocolate covered strawberries.

Typically, the recovery time for Keith's surgery would have been 6 weeks. He was cutting it close because there was a Podiatric Seminar that he had to go to in Vegas. Keith, his dad, the 3rd year resident Dr. Jason Denton, and his residency director Dr. Alvey presented a poster to be judged. It's the responsibility of the residents to put it together. We first flew into Phoenix and dropped the girls off with Aunt Julie (man, my girls have some seriously awesome aunties that are always so willing to watch them). We headed off to Vegas with Keith's parents. It was too cold to be by the pool, so I just did a lot of relaxing and just a little bit of shopping. My shopping buddy wasn't feeling very well, but it gave me a chance to meet up with my high school friend, Mischa and her baby Malik!

Out of over 100 posters, they took 3rd. Well done gents!

We took in a little night life, clean night life.
We had front row seats and VIP passes to none other than...Donny and Marie! I know, can you hardly contain yourself!! It was actually a good show. I used to have a Donny barbie doll when I was little. It may have been my older siblings, but I inherited it. It might be worth something today if one of our many dogs wouldn't have chewed Donny's hands, feet and nose off.
We also saw Bill Envall and Cirque de Soliel's O.

Two of my favorite people.

After Vegas, we drove back to Phoenix where the girls and I stayed for a few weeks to play in the sunshine and Keith headed back home to work. Poor Keith.

January 2010

I know everyone says not to try and get caught up on the blog but to just journal what is happening now, but I pretty much missed all of 2010. So, I'm going to attempt to do very quick month by month updates just so that I have some peace of mind.

After returning from Christmas in beautiful Arizona, we were welcomed home by this scene:
As beautiful as it may seem, snow and I don't have that fantastic of a relationship. However, when the sun is shining on fresh, beautiful snow, I will admit that it is rather lovely...for two minutes and then I want it gone.

Natalie "the Nanny" came to our rescue yet again as Keith prepared for his first abdominal surgery, only we thought it was going to be his one and only surgery. How foolish were we!! Keith and I made the trip up to Indianapolis while Nat stayed with the girls. We hit up a Suns/Pacers game the night before his surgery. One last hoorah before the dreaded event. We sat right behind the Sun's bench. So fun.
After a few days in Indy, we came home to recover, play (well, Nat and I...not Keith), and start new projects around the house that maybe we'd end up finishing. Hannah, Tatem and Brynlee love playing together.
Isn't she just the squishiest thing ever!?
January review:
Kind of fun for everyone else. Really crappy for Keith! See, this whole getting caught up thing isn't that hard!

Getting Bigger all the Time!

Just a quick post of the girls. It has been awhile (as you all are aware) since anything has been posted on the blog. Amazing to see how much these two have grown. Brynlee is 21 months and Hannah is in full swing of living life as a 3 year old!

Tiffany Muranaka was watching the girls for us while we were away for Nikki's funeral and took this picture. Right before she took the picture, Hannah saw Brynlee's hair and exclaimed, "That is a great idea Tiffany!"

At the Koch Children's Museum of Evansville. The load in the bucket was a wopping 28 lbs.

Lindsay is quite the seamstress these days, and has 2 really cute models to test out her creations.

We can't get enough of her eyelashes!

Those are a couple of hot mamasitas!!

Tom Selleck happened to be visiting so we were able to get a quick photo op with him. What a guy!

Nicole Marie Bangart Robinson

August 28, 1979 - July 11, 2010

For those of you who did not know, Nikki passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2010, at her home in Salt Lake City. Her passing has been very difficult for our family, and her own family Nate, Kellene, and Jackson. How grateful we are for the Plan of Salvation, and the knowledge we have that we will see her again because families can be eternal.

It is through the atoning sacrifice of our Savior that this will be possible, and that our hearts can begin the healing process. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we, like many who have faced this trial, can relate to and feel the words of Paul resonate within our hearts and minds.

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"
-1st Corinthians 15: 55

Taken April 30, 2010

She is truly loved, and will be missed by her family. We love you Nikki. You are a beautiful woman, sister, daughter, Mommy, and most importantly, Daughter of God.

San Francisco - Dec 28-30, 2009

Keith surprised me with a get-a-way to San Francisco for my birthday.

We saw WICKED from the very front row!
We toured ALCATRAZ
on the boat ride over to ALCATRAZ
(in my mind, every time I write ALCATRAZ, I'm saying it with a loud, booming, scary voice...moron)
gross

We enjoyed some fine dining....
...and another fantastic show, OVO by Cirque du Soleil, front row again!
My man doesn't disappoint!
WE LOVED IT!
The two and only times I had visited San Francisco were for 2 of my open heart surgeries.
The first time we tried to tour the city the day before the surgery. It was cloudy and rainy and I remember being very hungry. Never a good thing for my mood! I hated every second of it.
The second trip was no better. Both of our parents were there, but the fact that I was there merely for surgery cast it's own black cloud on my ability to enjoy it.
Keith lived in San Ramon, just outside of the city, when he was younger and has been determined to help me enjoy it.
He succeeded.
Thank you lovey!
